EPS helps organizations implement energy management systems such as ISO 50001, Superior Energy Performance and 50001-Ready by providing services from the initial business case justification to implementation and certification of the energy management systems.
ISO 50001.
In 2010 EPS began helping 3M implement ISO 50001 as part of a pilot in North America. This led to a successful certification to ISO 50001 of 3M for their 3M Brockville Tape facility. Following successful implementation of 3M’s first facility, EPS assisted 3M Canada to conduct gap analyses and build business cases for each of its facilities across Canada (seven facilities total) and to implement and certify the plants to the ISO 50001 Standard. Through 2016 and 2017, EPS helped 3M Canada to design an Enterprise ISO 50001 system that was successfully certified and simplified and reduced the auditing requirements for ongoing maintenance of the ISO 50001 certification for all its plants in Canada. To date, EPS has led 16 organizations to certification of ISO 50001.
Superior Energy Performance.
EPS is qualified to lead industrial organizations in the implementation and certification of Superior Energy Performance including all aspects of ISO 50001 and MSE 50021 and verification of energy performance improvement using the SEP M&V Protocol. EPS staff have been qualified by the Institute for Energy Management Professionals as Certified Practitioners Energy Management Systems-Industrial (CP EnMS) as well as SEP Performance Verifier.
50001-Ready.
The 50001-Ready Program can be an excellent means for organizations that are not yet ready to take on full ISO 50001 certification, to still implement an energy management system. EPS has led 4 companies to obtain the 50001-Ready Program recognition and is working towards that achievement with additional companies.
As part of EPS’ continuous innovation, we are specialized in integrating Energy Management Information Systems (EMIS) into the design and development of ISO 50001 and 50001-Ready implementations. We believe that the management system framework of ISO 50001 provides an excellent structure for organizations to focus on energy performance improvement and that EMIS enables a clearer lens through which to look at energy performance and energy performance improvement. We consequently have extensive experience with combining these two elements for our customers.
EPS ASSISTS ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH ALL STAGES OF ISO 50001 IMPLEMENTATION INCLUDING:
GAP ANALYSIS AND BUSINESS CASE PREPARATION.
Conduct a Gap Analysis of the organization’s current energy management practices versus the requirements of ISO 50001.
Development of a work plan for closing the identified gaps.
Development of a business case including implementation costs and savings associated with the implementation of the energy management system.
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.
EPS will assist the organization with implementation of all aspects of energy management systems including establishment of required documentation, procedures, processes and systems as well as training of the organization and internal auditors up to the “certification-ready” stage.
SUPPORT THROUGH THE CERTIFICATION STAGE.
EPS will support organizations through the EnMS certification stage for ISO 50001. EPS does not provide certification services but rather assists organizations in preparing for and successfully obtaining certification from certification bodies.
